"THE MOON" Two sisters were at one point in time gazing into the sky, and wishing that the stars were their husbands. Suddenly they found themselves in the sky world, married to two star men. Although a child was soon born, this new life was unfulfilling to the young sisters, until they punched a hole in the clouds while digging for roots. Seeing the earth far below them, they made a ladder out of cedar boughs and escaped, taking the baby, which was named Moon, with them. Upon arriving back on earth, the sisters used the hanging ladder as a swing while their grandmother, Toad, watched Moon. Since Toad was blind, ew up, took a salmon bride, and had kids. To assuade their sorrow, the women took Moon's cedar bark diaper and rinsed it five times, thus creating another child, which became the now-lost Moon's little brother. They also persuaded Bluejay to go retrieve Moon. Finally, Moon was ready to leave the salmon country. At various stops on his journey he changed those wh om he saw fighting into various peaceful creatures. He then saw Deer making spearpoints out of bone, but changed his hands into hooves, making him nothing more than an ordinary deer. When he finally reached his old home, he joined his younger brother and returned to the sky, where Moon became the moon while his brother became the sun. | SPIRITUAL LOVE | ||||||||||||||||
